Is using PaperRoc AI cheating?
It depends on your course's AI policy — so check it rather than guess. PaperRoc AI is built for the kind of AI help many courses allow: you bring the assignment and the ideas, you accept, reject or rewrite every change, and you hand in a disclosure of exactly what the AI did. If your professor doesn't allow AI assistance on a paper, don't use it for that paper. Your school's honor code always comes first.
Will my professor know I used AI?
Not from us. Your files and drafts are never shared with anyone, and we never train on them. If your course asks you to disclose AI use, every paper comes with an AI Use Disclosure (and a Prompt File) you can hand in with it — so your professor sees exactly what the AI helped with and what is yours.
What is the AI Use Disclosure, and do I have to hand it in?
It's a one-page statement you download when you export. It says the ideas, argument and outline are yours, lists the steps where the AI helped — analyzing your materials, polishing wording, grading against your rubric, making figures — and confirms you take responsibility for the final submission. It's free on every plan. Whether you must hand it in is up to your course: if your professor asks for an AI disclosure, it's ready; if not, it's still worth keeping.
What happens to the files and drafts I upload?
We never train on your work, and we never share it. Your materials go to our AI model provider only to produce what you ask for. Original uploaded files are deleted after 30 days; the extracted text stays in your account so your paper keeps working. When we check citations, only the reference details (titles, authors, DOIs) are looked up — never your paper. You can delete your account from Settings at any time: your files go immediately and everything else is purged within 30 days.
What's a credit, and how many does one paper take?
Credits pay for the AI steps; exporting and the disclosure are free. A 1,500-word paper from scratch takes about 11: 2 to read your materials and build the outline, and 9 for the full draft with its citation check — plus 1 for every extra 500 words. Grading a draft against your rubric is 2, and the originality boost starts at 2. The free trial's 12 credits cover one complete first draft.
